12/1 UPDATE

Tonight Verity weighed in at 3 lbs 7oz, again. She was up around this weight a few days ago, but lost it, we are so happy to see her back up there again. She is so teeny tiny, it continually amazes me just how small she really is, but she is behaving much like a full term baby. She has her times of wakefulness and sleep. When she is awake, she is bright eyed and happy, mostly. Her appetite has been voracious and they have increased the amount they feed her. The best news of all is that for about 2 days she has not needed to have any oxygen. She is not using anything, just breathing and doing well all on her own. It is possible that she might need to go back on the oxygen anytime, but it has been two days and she's doing really great. We'll get some new pictures posted soon. For now, our prayer requests are:

- For continued weight gain
- For continued good oxygenation/breathing
- That she will be able to come home healthy, and soon!

Thank you!

Kellee

Going from 3 lb 1 oz on 11/16 to 3 lb 7 oz on 11/30 is behind the curve of preemie growth (being roughly 1 oz/day), but at the same time, going from 3 lb 1 oz to 3 lb 7 oz is a 12.2% gain in weight in those 2 weeks.

Imagine someone who weighs 150 lbs gaining 18.4 lbs in the same amount of time! That is the type of growth Verity has had. 6 oz. is less than 14 oz., but that would be the ultimate ideal. If she is eating much more than before, a rate similar to that may be on the horizon!
