Weighing In

Last night we went to visit Verity and see where she is in relation to the idea of coming home. The doctors have indicated that they have been keeping her the past couple days because they want to see a couple days worth of steady weight gain. This has not been Verity's style however, she usually Gains alot one day and then losses some of that the next day; always keeping a little.

So, when we went in to weigh her last night it looked like a top fighter weighing in for some big match! All the nurses in the NICU stood by in the room. There was a hush in the air as everyone held their breath waiting to find out if Verity would break the cycle and possibly get to come home, or if we would again be dissapointed.

They placed her on the scale all eyes fixed on our daughter. "1990 grams the nurse called out to Everyone in the NICU!!!" (she was previously at 1920 grams). The room erupted into applause. All the nurses were congradulating us and one another like our daughter just made it through some high risk operation. I think all the NICU staff was actually happier about the news than we were.

It looks like our daughter will be home shortly.
